    Why is Hedonism a pink triangle? Do you know about the origin of the pink triangle & who uses it these days? Just wondering. Fabulous work notwithstanding.

      i don’t have a clue to be honest.. maybe u should direct this question to the artist … i think the pink triangle was used by hitler to denote homosexuals

    Exactly! That made it puzzling / curious, yes. I thought you were the artist, I apologise. *blushes profusely*

    Really nice ! But I wonder why you used the St Peter Cross for atheism ?

    Answering Nicky D’s question: although only the artist can say for sure, I’m almost sure the pink inverted triangle implies the naked female body.

      @ carlos nice one!

    I was wondering what Fonts you used?
    Great work.

    These are stunning. The simplicity of the shapes juxtaposes the complexity of each philosophy beautifully.

    Please join my page on facebook, we will be featuring them there and I would like to add artist’s name and give proper recognition. Also, I would like to keep in touch with your work.

    Wow, it was great seeing all these concepts both visually and in a nutshell of a text.

    It made me realize how I am a mix of all of them. But I guess I identify more with Humanism. What about you?

  11. August 30, 2011

    Could you explain your decision to make the political symbol of gay solidarity into a visual representation of hedonism?

  12. Carlos Freire #
    August 31, 2011

    @teapot

    By your rationale the symbol of Nihilism is an appropriation of the tic-tac-toe game or the multiplication sing. But I will risk a three-part answer to your question:

    (1.) the artist is clearly homophobic and this whole work is just an excuse to target the gay solidarity movement, and you found it; (2.) is a coincidence; (3.) you’re an idiot.

    Just to be clear, the options are not mutually exclusive.

    These are outstanding. I want them all as full-sized posters throughout my home.

    Single best webpage i’ve ever seen. Love the conciseness, love the symbolism and the accuracy with which the schools of thought are all presented. I am extremely impressed.

    Very stimilating…which forms part of Stimulism which is the belief that we exist. The graphic is a big booby. Also very cool which is a part of coolism…and so forth. Marie hahaha

    I don’t know if Atheism should be an inverted cross – that would probably better fit Antitheism. In fact, I’m not sure it should even be a cross at all, since it opposes all religion, but, whatever.

    And maybe the Humanism symbol should’ve been the “Happy Human”, or bore a resemblance to it.

    @teapot
    @carlos freire

    The pink inverted triangule is the symbol that the nazi tags the gay comunity in auschwitz, etc…
    Just for say…

    Good job.

    Well, a little bit homofobic, no?

    September 7, 2011

    @Freire: Okay, since you made it personal with @teapot, let me guess: you have no stake (that you’re aware of) in the pink triangle as a symbol of gay solidarity. You’ve never been accused of “hedonism” because you’re gay (because you aren’t, am I right?). You never speak out against stereotypes about gayness as sinful/evil/all about lust and sex/etc. It’s worth hearing what the artist’s intent was in using the pink triangle as the symbol for Hedonism, but come on. Give @teapot a break and don’t be so defensive.

    I think the pink triangle implies the symbol of heart, only less directly. It has nothing to do with gay people if you have a sense of abstraction which is necessary for this kind of art.

    Some of them are kinda hard to read. Mainly the absolutism, realism, and idealism ones. Otherwise, good job.

    @harrison– I’m pretty sure the font is Harabara

    @teapot
    @carlos freire
    @F.Foureaux

    The inverted triangle is also a symbol for female genitalia… so I’m thinking we’re just looking at a generalized symbol for sexuality. Pretty sure there’s no insult or intentional reference to Naxiism, at least not one that is meant to be offensive. Given that several of these could be offensive, I think the artist did a pretty good job at maintaining neutrality while using the best symbols possible for complex philosophies.

    The explanation on the Solipsism poster is too weak, and is instead really just a statement of skepticism of the external world. Solipsism is the positive position that ONLY the contents of the mind DO EXIST, and THERE IS NO external world.
