They stockpile savings. Cancel plans. Delay futures. But this is more than caution. It\u2019s chronic anticipation of collapse.  When uncertainty becomes permanent, fear becomes rational. And fear\u2014weaponized by media, capital, and populists\u2014becomes the most valuable asset of all.  Because anxious people don\u2019t riot. To wait.<br \/>But wait for <em>what<\/em>, exactly?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>In the absence of vision, you get drift.<br \/>In the absence of leadership, you get longing.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"> <em>What Comes After the Pause?<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This moment\u2014this pause\u2014is dangerous.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because people who stop expecting things<br \/>stop demanding better.<br \/>Stop participating.<br \/>Stop showing up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And that is how democracies die:<br \/>Not with explosions.<br \/>But with resignation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>A continent that forgets how to hope becomes easy prey\u2014for authoritarians, for markets, for silence.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><em>The Only Way Forward Is Through Meaning<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This isn\u2019t just about Germany.<br \/>It\u2019s about the soul of Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It must stop asking:<br \/>\u201cHow do we restore confidence in the economy?\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And start asking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p><strong>\u201cWhat do we owe people who no longer believe in tomorrow?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>Because if Europe doesn\u2019t offer more than austerity and algorithms\u2014<br \/>if it cannot paint a picture worth waking up for\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>then pessimism won\u2019t be a blip.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will be the new normal.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Mood in Germany is Not a Mood.
