In this 3D animated ‘music video’, motion capture is used to give awkward life to singing, dancing, simulated bodies. Inspired by haunted-house animatronics and the experience of dancing alone to one’s personal ‘inner soundtrack’ — in this case, Billy Idol’s hit song “Eyes Without A Face” — these fragmented, polymorphous figures eerily evoke male adolescent sexual anxiety, fantasies of digital corporeality, and the body horror of the ‘uncanny valley’.
